JRN 480: News Bureau
A small, dedicated group of students brainstormed, researched and wrote stories covering Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties. We could chose our own stories, and set our own deadlines. Once the deadlines were set, we were expected to have the stories submitted on time. It was up to us whether to write hard news stories or feature news stories, to determine the length of the stories, and to have photos, video and sidebars for the stories. I focused on feature stories and did all of my own photography. The stories were published online and can be found on the News Bureau website. This course may be counted as the capstone for the journalism degree, but I wanted further experience and decided to do an internship instead.
